Online Undergraduate Application Toolkit

University of Mauritius

INTRODUCTION

The online undergraduate Application Toolkit is an information portal designed to help the potential University of Mauritius (UoM) candidate to choose the most adequate list of programme of studies where he/she might have more chances to secure a seat, to meet the person’s unique needs.  Hence, the toolkit assists candidates to effectively select programmes of studies at the UoM prior to their attempting online application for programmes of studies during the admissions period.  The toolkit is accessible at http://mis.uom.ac.mu/toolkit and is applicable for prospective UoM undergraduate students only.

The information generated from the toolkit is based on compiled data accessible at http://www.uom.ac.mu/Admissions/Admissions%2007-08/profile_notice_2007_Final.PDF; an indicative profile of the last candidate's “A” level grades admitted on specified programmes, over academic years, 2002/2003 to 2006/2007.  The information provided from the toolkit is for guidance purpose only as the predicted results for any particular candidate may not be the actual results for the latter when he/she applies for programmes of studies.  Furthermore, the university does not guarantee that the candidate will secure a seat based on the results obtained from the toolkit.

INTRODUCTION

The Application Toolkit is an online software which is accessible via the UoM website, at http://mis.uom.ac.mu/toolkit.  It provides assistance and information to prospective undergraduate candidates before they actually apply on an online-mode for programme of studies at the University of Mauritius (UoM).  This toolkit has been designed in a view to demonstrate to prospective UoM student that they are eligible for which undergraduate programmes of studies from the list of programmes of studies available at that period of time based on their ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level results.  This practice will also help to minimise the number of unqualified candidates for particular programmes of studies due to prospective students lacking particular criteria to be eligible for the programme of studies.  For instance a candidate with the following ‘A’ level results:

-         grade ‘A’ in Mathematics;

-         grade ‘A’ in Physics; and

-         grade ‘A’ in Biology, may not be eligible for a seat in BSc (Hons) Medical Science programme because he/she does not have the minimum grade ‘B’ in Chemistry subject.

Furthermore, a candidate might not possess the minimum number of ‘A’ Level marks to get a seat for the programme of study, even though he/she is qualified for the programme of studies.
